There are several castles in the region, at Ainay le Vieille, Meillant, Culan and the manoir of George Sand in Nohant.
There are also several spa towns within reasonable distance like Vichy, Neris les Bains and Bourbon l’Archambault.
The Castle of Ainay-le-Vieil is a monument in the municipality of Ainay-le-Vieil (Cher, Centre-Loire Valley). It is an attraction for holidaymakers staying in the region.

Surrounded by trees, the Meillant castle has a remarkable architecture. Its eastern facade of Flamboyant Gothic style, and more especially its Lion tower, is richly decorated. Its beautiful wooded park is pleasant to walk around.

Perched on a rocky promontory, this castle of the Jacques-Coeur Trail overhangs the Arnon gorges. Built between the 12th and the 15th century, this feudal fortress features a series of towers encircled at the top by wooden hourds (galleries). At the foot of Culan castle, a medieval garden and a rose garden are the perfect place a stroll.

The 18th-century Château de Nohant in the charming village of Nohant near Nohant-Vic is where George Sand, the famous French author of The Devil's Pool, spent her childhood and various key moments of her life. Visitors can take an intimate tour of this manor house steeped in the memory of the Dupin family and see the drawing room and dining room where past guests included renowned composers and literary figures like Balzac, Chopin, Delacroix, Flaubert and Liszt. Furniture, family souvenirs and belongings and a puppet exhibition are on display.
Surrounding the house is a lovely 6-hectare garden boasting "Remarkable Garden" status, with a wonderful rose garden, meadow orchard, flower garden, kitchen garden and wooded park.
George Sand's grave lies close to the garden in the family cemetery.
Every June and July, the estate hosts Nohant festival, a leading musical event dedicated to the Romantic period.
